Steve McQueen® Le Mans® Edition is now available for PRE-ORDER
Renauld and the Steve McQueen® Estate are proud to announce a collaboration with Le Mans® to produce a limited-edition sunglass: known as the Steve McQueen® Le Mans® Edition.
Steve McQueen will always be remembered as the 'King of Cool', and throughout the Sixties was an enthusiastic collector of sunglasses. The 1970 Film, 'Le Mans®' is a cult classic and over the last 54 years has steadily grown in popularity. Using groundbreaking filming techniques, McQueen pushed the boundaries of capturing live-race sequences.
During the filming, McQueen wore a cherished pair of sunglasses, and we are very proud to have been selected by the Estate to reproduce these for the first time since the film's release in 1970.
Renauld will produce two models of the Steve McQueen® Le Mans® Edition, totaling just 300 pieces this season.
'The Steve McQueen® Le Mans® Edition', is presented 'as worn' by McQueen during filming. The 'Car 20' Edition, will feature an actual part of Steve McQueen's Porsche 917, encased in the Renauld Marque, embedded in the sunglass temple. This precious keepsake is part of the original bodywork from the Porsche 917, race number 20, as driven by McQueen.
A video of the keepsake being encased in the Renauld Marque can be exclusively accessed by an NFC chip embedded in the temple tip. The NFC chip allows unique access to digital content by scanning it with a smartphone. The Keepsake is also protected by a new interactive element in the glasses called a 'ValueBond®'. More information will be made available on the 'ValueBond®' as we approach launch.
During privileged meetings with the McQueen family, Renauld was given exclusive access to Steve McQueen's personal Porsche 911S, which he ordered after filming Le Mans. McQueen's grandchildren generously modeled the sunglasses, which can be seen on this product page.
Further details will be unveiled as we approach release in August/September 2024. Delivery will be Late August/Early September 2024.
