Jim Clark, OBE, was a legendary Scottish racing driver celebrated for his extraordinary talent, humility, and sportsmanship. A two-time Formula One World Champion, Clark remains one of the most revered figures in motorsport history.

Jim Clark and the Sixty One™ – Throughout the 1960s, Clark was frequently seen wearing the iconic Renauld Sixty One™ sunglasses. Known for their uninterrupted 180-degree field of vision, these glasses became a signature hallmark of his trackside attire, offering both performance and timeless style at Grand Prix and other racing events.

A RACING LEGEND

In 1960, Clark joined Team Lotus and quickly beganto make waves, scoring points in his debut season and achieving his first win in 1962. Clark went on to win his first Formula One World Championship in 1963, driving the Lotus 25 and secured his second title in 1965 in the Lotus 33. In the same year he famously triumphed at the Indianapolis 500 in the Lotus 38 - further cementing his status as one of the greatest drivers in motorsport. Wining the 1965 Tasman Series in the Lotus32B made Clark the most successful driver ever in a single season. Clark’s life was cut short in1968 during a Formula Two race at the Hockenheimring. His death sent shockwaves through the racing community. At the time, Clark held the records for the most Grand Prix wins(25) and pole positions (33), a testament to his dominance and skill.  Jim still holds the F1 record for eight‘Grand Slams’: pole position, lead every lap, fastest lap and victory. To honour Jim Clark’s enduring legacy, Renauld has partnered with Classic Team Lotus and the Jim Clark Trustto create several limited edition collections celebrating the legendary pairing in Formula One between Jim Clark and Colin Chapman’s Team Lotus.

KEEPSAKE MARQUEE

The Type 32B™ - The Tasman Series Tribute - A limited edition of only 32 pieces, the Type 32B™ sunglasses pay tribute to a key chapter in motorsport history. The Lotus Type 32B, developed from the Formula 2 Lotus 32, was a modified one off fitted with a 2.5-litre Coventry Climax engine for the Tasman Series. Clark’s mastery of this machine led him to win the series in 1965.

Each pair of sunglasses features the Renauld Keepsake Marque™, Renauld’s unique hallmark containing an authenticated fragment of an original second gear from the actual Lotus Type 32B. This rare piece of history is embedded into the frame and sourced directly from Classic Team Lotus.

The sunglasses are hand-assembled in Italy from 24ct gold plate and fitted with olive green lenses, bearing the Team Lotus badge. Accompanied by a bespoke handmade Type 32B™ leather case embossed with the winning Lotus, Jim’s signature and presentation box.

The Type 38™ - Celebrating the Indy 500 Victory

This model honours Clark’s victory at the Indianapolis 500 in the Lotus Type 38. Jim dominated the world’s greatest race and became the first to win with a rear -engined car. The sunglasses are hand-assembled from plated palladium and fitted with green lenses, bearing the Team Lotus badge. Accompanied by a bespoke handmade Type 38™ leather case embossed with the winning Lotus, Jim’s signature and presentation box. 

The Type 25™ sunglasses – Unbeatable

Marking Clark’s Formula One World Championship win in 1963 with the Lotus 25 when effectively he was unbeatable, The Type 25™ sunglasses are finished in 24ct yellow gold plate with grey/blue lenses, also featuring the Team Lotus badge.  It is accompanied by a bespoke Type 25™ leather case embossed with a distinctive silhouette of the winning car and Jim’s signature and presentation box.
