INDY 500 SIXTY-ONE (Finish Line) - Cool Grey
Renauld is no stranger to Indy – Jim Clark, who won the 500 in 1965, like many other racers of his generation, was an avid fan of Renauld throughout his racing career in the 60’s. Renauld was a popular choice with racing drivers because of the sunglasses uninterrupted 180-degree visibility, making it as asset on the racetrack.
In a collaboration with the owners of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Renauld has designed a distinct, limited-edition of our SIXTY-ONE sunglass, ‘The Indy 500 Sixty One.’
In homage to Indy, Renauld has been given special permission to incorporate authenticated brick dust from the finish line of the iconic Indianapolis 500. As diehard fans will know, the IMS is nicknamed ‘The Brickyard’ when it was repaved with 3.2 million bricks in 1909. Just 36 of those bricks remain on the finish line today and it is from these that we have been able to obtain a little piece of history. This hallowed ground was crossed (and often kissed) by the likes of Roger Penske, AJ Foyt, the Unsers and Mario Andretti and more.
Renauld’s lens engineering incorporates a wafer-thin transparent, sealed ‘Keepsake’ compartment into the aerodynamic shape of the lens. The Keepsake encapsulates over 100 years of Indianapolis 500 racing legacy. Crafted carefully by hand to exacting standards in The Renauld Studio in Italy and presented in a bespoke, handstitched leather case and limited-edition gift box.
